Textile, Clothing, Footwear, and Leather Technology

Textile sector includes all the production process from fibre to the end product. Thus, education of apparel industry, a subfield of Department of Textile of the Vocational School, has an important role in the export and employment market in our country. To this end, all the scientific and technological developments in the textile and apparel industries are involved in our four-term educational programme. The Programme aims to educate prospective qualified semi-skilled employees who will be involved in all the processes from production planning, model design, pattern design, collection and sample making to turning out the end products, namely all the processes related to the production of goods.

Textile Technology Programme is a two-year associate degree programme.        

Within the Programme, students receive theoretical courses on basic textile such as Textile Materials, Yarn Technology, General Weaving and Knitting Technologies, through which they will identify the fibre -raw material in textile-, observe the process of spinning fibre into the yarn, and learn how to make fabric from the yarn. Besides, they receive practical courses such as Pattern Design Techniques, Modelling Techniques, Fitting Garment Pattern on a Model, Computer Aided Pattern and Clothing Design, Apparel Workshop, Product Modelling, and Product Development, through which they can learn how to design a pattern and model, use the software Lectra to design a pattern and carry out modelling applications, sewing techniques, and production processes. Besides the directed study to be carried out in the 4th term, the educational programme involves a 50-working day business internship.

Our graduates will have a wide range of career opportunities in various areas of the textile sector. They can work as customer representatives, outsourcing supervisors, modelists, etc. in production planning, ready-to-wear clothing, apparel, weaving, yarn, knitting, painting and finishing, and computer aided pattern and design departments. They can also work as master trainers in schools and course centres affiliated with the Public Education Centres and municipalities.

The Programme offers Turkish-medium instruction. The English Preparatory Programme is optional.
