Vocational Schools

Programme's Message

With its advanced technological level and economic efficiency, Turkey’s textile sector is one of the country’s leading industries. To remain competitive, companies in our country must increase their production-quality level; in order to do so, having a qualified workforce is essential. The demand for the employment of Individuals who have received superior applied training in textile technologies within their related fields is gaining importance in the pursuit of such a qualified workforce.

Since the textile sector covers the entire production process from fiber to the finished product, textile education at Istanbul Beykent University Vocational School’s Department of Textile is applied through the reflection of scientific and technological developments occurring in all phases of textile (fiber-yarn-weaving-knitting-finishing-apparel) throughout our four-term educational program.

Our Textile Technology Program details the processes of all stages of textile production, providing students with the basic knowledge and skills of each stage. Proper education is ensured to train qualified professionals; enabling them to use textile machines and to have the required knowledge and skills relating to fiber, yarn, weaving, knitting, finishing, and apparel technologies.

Our Textile Technology Program is a two-year associate degree program.

Within the program’s curriculum, "Textile Materials" classes encapsulate fiber-related topics, as fibers are the raw material of textile. The "Yarn Technology" classes theoretically teach the production of yarn through the spinning of fibers. And our program’s "Weaving Technology" and "Knitting Technology" classes both theoretically and practically teach the formation of fabric from yarn, in the weaving and knitting workshop. The "Fabric Analysis" classes provide theoretical and practical training as concerns different fabrics and the evaluation of their general properties. Apart from these, "Pattern Preparation Techniques" and "Model Application Techniques" classes teach pattern preparation and model application. "Apparel Workshop" as well as "Product Development" classes teach sewing techniques and product production processes, in the apparel workshop.

In addition to applied directed study throughout the 4th term, our educational program involves a 30-working day professional internship.

Our graduates are left with a wide range of career opportunities in various areas of the textile sector. They may work in ready-to-wear, apparel, yarn, weaving, knitting, textile dyeing and finishing; in categories such as production-planning, customer representation, research and development, modeling, and quality departments. In addition, they may teach master classes in schools and courses affiliated with Public Education Centers and municipalities.

Education in this program is applied via Turkish language instruction. The English Preparatory Program is optional.
