Programme Outcomes

Graduates of the Programme of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Services will be able to:

  1. Comprehend the area of activity, organisational structural, and departments of the institutions they work for.
  2. Recall the national and international health authorities and institutions (Turkish Ministry of Health, Provincial Health Directorates, JCI) related to their field.
  3. Explain the services provided by health institutions.
  4. Recall the safety and security practices and procedures implemented in health institutions.
  5. Arrange the appointments of patients presenting to health the institution.
  6. Admit the patients presenting to the health institution.
  7. Keep the medical records of the patients presenting to the health institution.
  8. Perform the communication or correspondence services for the administrative and medical units of the hospital.
  9. Scientifically archive the medical files and other required documents and files of the patients, and put them into service.
  10. Draw up reports as requested by the physicians.
  11. Properly use the computer software required to draw up the report.
  12. Have the medical reports approved.
  13. Put the medical reports in their respective files.
  14. Answer all the phones and set appointments.
  15. Communicate with patients properly.
  16. Develop required skills for communication with their managers.
  17. Perform the ICD encoding procedures properly.
  18. Write the business letters and perform the formal correspondence within the hospital properly.
  19. Refer the correspondence in the hospital to the relevant units.
  20. Type correctly and fast at least at the speed of speech without looking at the screen or the keyboard.
  21. Develop themselves to use the devices related to correspondence (fax machines, scanners, printers, etc.).
  22. Have a good command of the legislation concerning formal correspondence, and follow the changes.
  23. Review the literature when faced with a problem.
