Programme's Outcomes

Students will be able to:

  • Define the profession, and comprehend the working areas and concepts of Social Work.
  • Comprehend the structure, content, activities, and practices of the social work organisations, and improve their knowledge through literature research. Use the terminology and literature in their field.
  • Identify the theories and practices of Social Work, which aims to serve the families, children, people with disabilities, elderly, and other people, who need protection, care, and help.
  • Define the basic concepts and theoretical approaches regarding social problems, and solve the social problems in Turkey and the world.
  • Make various definitions of the social policy, its historical development, objectives, basic elements and instruments, and identify the relations between the social policy, social problems, and social development.
  • Describe the basic concepts of Social Security and the social security systems.
  • Describe the characteristics and ethical principles of practices regarding Social Work, the practices in the fields of Medical Social Work and Forensic Social Work, and social work practices carried out through the field of Education and Gender, NGOs, and other local administrations.
  • Define the basic concepts and historical processes of primary care services, and the development of primary care services in Turkey and the world, practice areas of primary care services, relevant organisations, social policies, occupational therapy, and case management, as well as the ethical and legal aspects of primary care services.
  • Identify the symptoms of a disease, first aid, hygiene, immunisation and vaccination, early diagnosis and treatment, medication-use principles, care and rehabilitation for long-stay patients, and basic health services.
  • Recognise the terms and concepts defining the individuals with special needs, care services in special education, care services in our country, and social services for individuals with special needs.
  • Apply the theoretical and practical knowledge, which they acquired during their associate degree studies in Social Work, in their professional lives and or scientific studies.
  • Apply the knowledge they acquired within the scope of the Social Work Programme in the fields, i.e. Sociology, Psychology, Communication, Law, Occupational Health and Safety, Use of Information Technology, Quality Management and Standards, and English, which are the subjects of the compulsory proficiency courses they take within the Programme.
  • Communicate effectively with the client systems, and apply the communication tools.
Stick to scientific and ethical values while collecting, interpreting, processing data, and announcing its results.
